What Causes Problems in Horses

Everyday events can expose a horse to the kinds of stress that can adversely affect the spine and joints. Common causes of these include:

  • Trauma – falls
  • Conformation
  • Saddles – poorly fitting
  • Performance events
  • Rider
  • Birthing difficulties
  • Lack of mobility – confined stable
  • Transportation – long journeys
  • Poor shoeing/hoof care
  • Age
  • Others: teeth problems, clinical lameness and general anaesthetic
